SME Evaluation
Definition : SME
Small and medium-sized enterprises, known as SMEs, are companies with fewer than 250 employees and sales of less than 50 million euros.Â
How to evaluate an SME?
Every SME operates in different sectors. There is no "ideal" or "standard" valuation method to be applied to every SME, whatever its activity. During a valuation, the consultant will select several methods according to the characteristics of the company, its activity and organization, to obtain several valuations which will then be weighted to obtain a final valuation of the SME.
Why evaluate an SME?
When buying or selling an SME, the valuation of the SME will systematically be the first thing requested. If the manager of the SME starts a procedure to request bank financing, he will have to provide the institution with the valuation of his SME. One of the reasons can also be to prepare his succession, in particular within the framework of a donation between partners or at the time of a divorce.
