Company valuation - TESLA's value exceeds that of Facebook

The carmaker's stock rose more than 7% on Friday, January 8, on the New York Stock Exchange, doubling the valuation of Facebook.

The company's valuation reached 880 billion dollars on Friday evening at the close of Wall Street, its share price gaining another 7.8%. The stock thus completed an eleventh straight increase and ended at 880 dollars. Only one year ago, the value of the company "Tesla" passed the threshold of 100 billion dollars.

The top four American companies are still far behind: Apple is worth 2,206 billion dollars, ahead of Microsoft (1,648 billion), Amazon (1,586 billion), and Alphabet/Google (1,200 billion). Tesla is now in 5th place.

This record valuation is all the more astonishing since Tesla has only sold 499,550 cars in the year 2020, far from, for example, Volkswagen and its 11 million vehicles sold in 2019.

However, the German group is far behind in terms of company valuation, with a value of 80 billion euros.
