How does an SME assessment work?
The first thing to note is that each SME is different, as it operates in a different sector. This is why, whatever the valuation methods used, none can be considered as ideal and each valuation must be adapted to the specificities of the company's sector.
After selecting the 3 most appropriate valuation methods, a weighted average will be calculated to obtain the final valuation. Â
Why commission an SME assessment?
A request for an SME valuation is often made to an expert when selling a SME, an estimate is used to negotiate and establish the transfer price. A valuation may also be necessary when applying for financing or preparing a succession.Â
The strength of a XVAL valuation is the delivery of a detailed report justifying the methods and assumptions used (coefficient, EBITDA restatement, etc.) which will be the basis for discussions with the buyer, the banker, etc.
