  • In 2022, the market for the sale and transfer of business assets enjoyed solid momentum, with prices reaching their highest level ever. The number of transactions rose by 14.3% to a total of 31,717, with an average price of €215,716.
  • Medium-sized towns and small cities were particularly attractive, accounting for over half of all exchanges (55%). By contrast, rural towns and villages with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants will be less attractive in 2022.
  • The restaurant sector has regained its attractiveness, with a 51% increase in transactions and an 18% rise in value.
  • The market was mainly driven by very small businesses (VSEs), with more than 9 out of 10 buyouts carried out by entrepreneurs running VSEs.
  • Pharmacies, sold for an average of 1.2 million euros, drove up average prices.
  • The tax system for small businesses has been modified to encourage the acquisition of businesses. Small businesses are now authorized to deduct from taxable income the amortization over a 10-year period of goodwill acquired between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2025.

  • Accommodation, food and beverage: €195,980 (+12.4% on 2021)

The average sale price in 2022 was €215,716, representing a 7.5% increase over 2021.
