The valuation of intangible assets when it comes to internal software developed by a company is often a forgotten element when valuing a company.
Indeed, many actors tend to consider these tools as an inherent element of the business and do not value the tools and software developed by the company to serve its activity.
This approach seems inconsistent to us and would be tantamount, for example, to considering that owning the walls of a business should be included in the price of the business. In fact, software developed in-house is an asset that can be bought/rented/shared and should be valued as such independently of the business goodwill.
Thus, it seems to us, particularly in digital services companies but not only, that the value of these intangible assets must be specifically taken into account in the restatements of the company's assets during its valuation.
